About Me
I am an observational astronomer dedicated to understanding how stars, gas, dust, and supermassive black holes shape the evolution of galaxies across cosmic time. My research combines ultraviolet (UV) to infrared (IR) observations from space- and ground-based telescopes to investigate these galactic ecosystems on resolved scales in the local Universe. Currently, I am a Research Associate at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), where I work with Dr. Dana Balser to investigate the ionization sources of the warm ionized medium (WIM) in the inner Milky Way using JWST observations.
Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), where I worked with Dr. Elena Sabbi and Dr. Peter Zeidler on the Galaxy UV Legacy Project (GULP) and JWST observations of NGC 602, a young star-forming region in the Small Magellanic Cloud. My work focused on characterizing stellar populations, tracing recent star formation, and uncovering the physical processes shaping star-forming environments in the local Universe.
Before joining STScI, I completed my Ph.D. in Physics (2022) at Georgia State University in Extragalactic Astronomy under the supervision of Dr. Michael Crenshaw. My dissertation was focused on identifying the dynamics of the narrow line region (NLR) in nearby active galaxies. My dissertation work provided key results in the study of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), stating that the outflows in NLRs are driven by AGN radiation pressure.
I have an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering and a Masters in Technology in Opto-electronics and Optical Engineering. Before starting the Ph.D. program at GSU, I worked as an Intellectual Property Researcher at CPA Global, India.
